ACTION HALL
The Citizen Action Hall in the Humanities Building at the University of Alberta is nestled right in the hub of academia. The hallways buzz with students chatting and studying. The Citizen Action Hall itself looks like any other classroom but what takes place inside is pretty cool and unique.Every Friday afternoon during the fall and winter semesters individuals with disabilities, University of Alberta students, disability workers, and researchers gather together to explore the notion of citizenship.People share stories, ponder ideas, imagine better futures, take pictures, make films, and listen to guest speakers. The action hall experience has begun to cause our collective to think of ourselves not just as citizens, but also as citizenologists- explorers of what ideas and action can foster engaged citizenship.
Fall 2014, citizens with disabilities, University of Alberta Community Service-Learning students, & Skills Society support workers created geocache boxes.
